Maligano Jasper is the name given to a new brecciated Jasper variation discovered in Indonesia between 2011 and 2012. The name derives from a little hamlet on the island of Sulawesi where it was discovered (part of the four Greater Sunda Islands). It's made up of a variety of Jasper colors (blue, red, orange, yellow, grey, and beige) with veins of greyish-silver Agate filling the holes.
The garnet mineral pyrope, which ranges in color from rose-pink to red, is known as rhodolite. Cowee Valley in Macon County, North Carolina was the first place where it was discovered. In accordance with other pink mineral varieties, the name "rhodon" comes from the Greek word "rhodon," which means "rose-like."
A rare gemstone consisting of hard vitreous magnesium aluminum oxide or magnesium aluminate, black spinel is a rare gemstone. Black spinel, in particular, is a true gemstone and one of the rarest minerals in the Spinel family, sometimes confused with black tourmaline.
